About IQPS
You are an office professional - join the UK's leading association for office professionals
Last year IQPS celebrated its 50th anniversary; initially called the Private Secretaries Association, then in 1966 changing its title to the Institute of Qualified Private Secretaries Limited (IQPS). Until 1974 the only criteria for joining was to have passed the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry Private Secretary's Certificate or Diploma. In 1974 IQPS integrated with the National Association of Personal Secretaries (NAPS), when the criteria widened to other relevant listed examinations. In 2004 the 'P' in IQPS was changed to mean 'Professional' rather than 'Private' to reflect the changing world of the office professional.
IQPS has evolved from those reflective early days to the association it is today, supporting today's office professionals in commerce, industry and education in the public and private sector. IQPS sustains the professional image sought after by the founder members.
The IQPS mission is based on the original members' objectives to:
- Assist office professionals to achieve excellence in the workplace
- Raise the profile of the profession
- Raise professional standards through Continuing Professional and Personal Development
- Encourage and assist aspiring office professionals in their careers
- Raise awareness of the benefits of IQPS
- Liaise with other office professionals (locally, nationally and internationally), the media, government, business and education
That mission takes us towards our vision: to be recognised as the UK's leading association for office professionals.
